deaths hung in sound-holes | fingers

tugging at notes | unable to pull them

from the body | take a breathful

the scent remains | of wet beach

and pear drop | you haven’t enough

of memories like these | and sounds

and some words | will splash shadow-puppets

onto walls | but your eyes

are floodlights | and will wash them away
